Events

For simplicity reasons, all the masterclasses, conventions, conferences, courses, lectures, or anything else that you might want to list under Professional Development are considered events.

Adding an event

You can add an event under Events > Add New. When you add a new event, there are only a few things to take note:

  • Title — This is the name of the event.
  • Permalink — This is the URL where the event will be accessible at. It is best to leave it to the default as Wordpress will make sure there are no conflicts with existing events.
  • Content — As the name suggests, this is the description for the event itself. Feel free to add any links, images, or an outline of the programme. If possible, try not to include image-only descriptions as it will dramatically affect SEO.
  • Time: Start/End — This is the start / end time of the event. It is important to input the correct time and date for this as it will affect the "Upcoming" and "Past Events" tab in the Professional Development page.
  • Venue — A venue can be added into the database under Events > Venues, or while adding an event. Doing so will allow you to re-use the venue for any other events. Please note that currently, the "Show Map" and "Show Map Link" checkboxes does not actually do anything.
  • Organisers — Similar to the venues, organisers can also be added into the database under Events > Organizers, or while adding an event. However, do note that currently, the organiser information are not being displayed on the event information page.
  • Event Website — Currently, the event website URL is not being displayed on the event information page. However, this will be added in.
  • Excerpts — Excerpts are currently also not being displayed in the Professional Development page, but should still be added in for SEO purposes.
